My introduction to small business started when I was a teenager, working in my parents small business where I learnt the aspects of running a business.
After completing a Science degree at university majoring in Psychology, I joined Johnson & Johnson Medical, a global business in a marketing role and continued working in marketing roles, both in Sydney and the UK.
I built my online marketing skills along the way and in the early 2000s (when internet technology was in its infancy) my husband and I established a national wholesale accessory business - being visible and standing out from your competitors was an important strategy.
I'm a naturally curious person and love variety in my business life so in 2010 I joined the real estate industry and it was here that I truly pushed the boundaries and developed a 'world first' technology platform - Property Whispers - that would go on to earn me multiple local and international industry awards and nominations including 'Real Estate Innovator of the Year 2020'.
To give you some background to this innovation, in Australia, a property can either be sold 'on-market' which means it is publicly available, or 'off-market' which means it is offered 'privately', without the public auction. Off-market properties are offered to an agent's database of buyers. However many agents don't have suitable buyers on their database, and buyers therefore are not aware of all the off-market properties available.
So I came up with the idea to make 'off-market' properties visible online, and co-created Property Whispers, an instant matching and connecting platform. It works simply like a dating website between home buyers and off-market properties. Off-market properties are now no longer invisible!
Upon launching Property Whispers I featured on Channel 7 news (twice!), Sky News Real Estate and in over 20 different media platforms.
My career has kept me busy and I'm forever learning. Today I'm pleased to be helping professionals and small businesses get more visible and succeed online with my innovative marketing ideas, extensive marketing knowledge and start-up lessons.
